Our Mission:

Lleve su Bolsita (“bring a little bag”) is a volunteer effort to involve environmentally enthusiastic youth in the quest for conservation. Our aim is to raise awareness and stop the overuse of plastic shopping bags in Puerto Rico and Texas by promoting the use of reusable bags. We provide opportunities for students to share this passion with the community and for citizens to immediately reduce their impact on the environment without a difficult change in lifestyle. This effort supports the goal of increasing global acceptance of sustainable practices. Lleve su Bolsita operates via classroom and public presentations and in collaboration with other national organizations such as Seat Grant.

•••So why Save A Turtle?••• 

Besides polluting air, water and increasing consumption of oil, plastic bags are often eaten by wildlife. Sea turtles, including the critically endangered Hawksbill, will mistakingly eat plastic bags appearing to be nutritious jellyfish. This is often a fatal mistake resulting in suffocation or starvation.
